Kappa House on Prospect Reunion and Celebration

October 21–23, 2022 · Morgantown, West Virginia — “Mountaineers Go First and So Do Kappas!”

A Weekend Celebrating the Kappa House on Prospect

From October 21 to 23, 2022, Beta Upsilon alumnae, collegians and friends gathered in Morgantown for the Campaign Celebration and Reunion. The weekend honored everyone who gave to the Kappa House on Prospect Capital Campaign and marked how far the house had come since the campaign was announced in 2019.

Sisters who had not been back to Prospect Street in years returned to see the results of their generosity: a new roof, rebuilt dormers, replaced windows, repaired bathrooms and a newly dedicated dining room. For many, it was the first chance to reconnect with pledge sisters and meet the women who live in the house today.

The theme of the weekend came from a point of pride for Beta Upsilon. Kappa Kappa Gamma was the first sorority at West Virginia University, the first to rent a house, the first to own one and the first to build one. The celebration video carried that message and captured the spirit of the weekend for sisters who could not attend in person.

What the Celebration Meant for the Kappa House on Prospect

The reunion was more than a party. It gave the campaign a final push. In the months after the celebration, alumnae gave almost $75,000 more, bringing the campaign within reach of its goal. By the time the campaign closed in 2023, Kappas had pledged and donated $475,000.

  • Before the celebration (May 2022): $355,528 from 317 sisters.
  • After the celebration (February 2023): only $46,137 left to reach the goal.
  • Final total: $475,000 in donations and pledges.
