Kappa House on Prospect Improvements
What your gifts have already done for 265 Prospect, and what comes next.
Completed Kappa House on Prospect Improvements
2019: New roof, dormers and windows
The first priority was the roof. Work began at the end of May 2019. The old roof was stripped down to the plywood, decayed dormers were rebuilt, and a new warranted 30-year roof was installed. With the scaffolding already in place, windows in the worst condition were replaced at the same time. Everything was finished in time for fall move-in.
2021: Bathrooms, joists and the dining room
After a pandemic delay, spring donations made it possible to finish the plumbing work started years earlier:
- Floor joists beneath the second-floor showers and toilets were secured.
- Showers, sinks and flooring in that bathroom were replaced.
- Final repairs were made to the dining room ceiling.
- The powder room was renovated.
The new dining room and bathrooms were ready for the fall 2021 semester. At Founders Day, the chapter dedicated the new dining room, a gift from sisters Cecilia Hamrick Wehrle BY ’73, Karen Hamrick Miller BY ’75 and Jessica J. Miller BY ’13, the largest gift to the campaign.
Kappa House on Prospect Projects Still Ahead
The House Board keeps a prioritized plan of capital improvements and reviews it regularly. Priorities can shift when something fails unexpectedly, but the current list includes:
- About 30 remaining windows
- A commercial refrigerator and stove for the staff kitchen, and other kitchen renovations
- New carpet in upstairs hallways and bedrooms
- New sidewalks
See the house for yourself on House Improvement Photos, or help fund the next project.
